Duro Dyne 7X7 Wire Rope 500 Spool 30204

The Duro Dyne 30204 is a 500 foot spool of 7x7 construction wire rope for suspension and support applications.

Wire rope designation describes its construction, and 7x7 indicates seven strands each made up of seven wires. That construction is relatively stiff compared with ropes made of more, finer wires, and it offers good strength with reasonable handling.

Constructions with more wires per strand are more flexible and better suited to running over sheaves, while stiffer constructions resist abrasion and crushing better in static applications.

In HVAC work the common use is suspending ductwork and equipment using cable hanging systems, where the rope is static rather than running.

Working load limit is the specification that governs use, and it is a fraction of the rope's breaking strength, incorporating a safety factor. Loading to the breaking strength is not a design condition; the working load limit is.

Angled suspension increases tension above the load supported, and the increase becomes substantial as the angle from vertical grows.

Terminations are where wire rope assemblies most often fail. The clamp, thimble, or locking device must be the correct type for the rope, installed correctly, and rated for the load.

Confirm the rope construction, diameter, and working load limit suit the application, verify the structural attachment is adequate, and inspect for broken wires, kinking, corrosion, and crushing before use.
