DiversiTech Fuse 100A 250V Class NLN100

The DiversiTech NLN100 is a 100 amp, 250 volt Class K5 fuse used for feeder and larger branch circuit protection in commercial and industrial distribution systems.

The Class K5 designation identifies the fuse's interrupting rating and time-current characteristics. K5 fuses provide moderate current limitation, making them appropriate where the available fault current at the installation point falls within their interrupting rating and the equipment listing permits their use. They serve as a cost-effective option for general distribution protection that does not require the higher performance of Class RK1 or Class J devices.

The 250 volt rating applies to single phase 120/240 volt systems and three phase 240 volt systems. At 100 amps, the fuse is typically found protecting feeders to distribution subpanels, large motor branch circuits, and substantial mechanical equipment loads.

Applications include fused disconnect switches serving HVAC and refrigeration equipment, panelboard and switchboard feeder protection, large motor circuits, compressor and condensing unit feeders in commercial installations, and general power distribution in industrial facilities.

Fuse class must be matched, not approximated. Electrical distribution equipment is listed for particular fuse classes, and the fuse interrupting rating must exceed the available fault current at the point of installation. An undersized interrupting rating creates a serious hazard because the fuse may fail violently rather than clearing the fault. Class substitution also alters let-through energy, potentially exceeding the withstand rating of downstream equipment.
