DiversiTech Expansion Valve TXV AC Kit Wit TXVFE-3-22-KIT

The DiversiTech TXVFE-3-22-KIT is a thermostatic expansion valve kit for R-22 air conditioning systems in the three ton capacity class, supplied with the components required for installation.

A thermostatic expansion valve meters refrigerant into the evaporator in response to suction superheat, using a sensing bulb clamped to the suction line to detect how completely the refrigerant has evaporated. When superheat rises, indicating the coil is starved, the valve opens further. When superheat falls, indicating liquid is approaching the compressor, it closes.

This feedback loop is what distinguishes a TXV from a fixed orifice. A piston or capillary meters a fixed quantity determined by pressure differential alone, which is correct at one operating condition and progressively less correct as conditions move away from it. A TXV maintains proper superheat across a range of loads and ambient temperatures, which improves capacity at part load and protects the compressor from flooding.

Sensing bulb installation determines whether the valve works. The bulb must be clamped firmly to a clean, straight, horizontal section of suction line close to the evaporator outlet, positioned at roughly the four or eight o'clock position rather than on top or underneath, and insulated so it senses line temperature rather than ambient air.
