Best Comfort DIB6201 1500W 120V Milkhouse Heater

The Best Comfort DIB6201 is a 1500W milkhouse heater operating at 120V.

The milkhouse designation is a genuine piece of naming history rather than a style. These heaters were built for dairy barns and milk houses — unheated outbuildings that needed to be kept above freezing to protect equipment and stock — and the design that resulted is what the name still describes: an enclosed steel housing, a simple element, a fan, and a thermostat, with no attempt at appearance. It is a rugged, utilitarian heater built for a working space rather than a living room.

The 1500W rating at 120V is the practical ceiling for a portable heater on a standard North American circuit. That is not a coincidence: 1500W draws roughly 12.5 amps, which is the sensible continuous limit for a 15 amp circuit. It is why virtually every 120V portable heater is rated 1500W, and why running two on one circuit trips the breaker.

That circuit limit is worth taking seriously. Portable heaters draw near the capacity of the circuit continuously, which is exactly the load extension cords are poor at handling. Plug it directly into a wall receptacle.

Applications include garages, workshops, outbuildings, barns, basements, job trailers, and construction site temporary heat.

Follow the manufacturer's clearance requirements — portable heaters need distance from combustible materials.
