The BASO C161KKD-1C is an ignition control for gas fired appliances, sequencing and supervising the ignition process.

An ignition control is the device that turns a call for heat into a safe, verified burner light. It sequences the steps in order, applies the timing each requires, and supervises the outcome at each stage. If any stage fails, it shuts off the gas and either retries or locks out according to its programming.

The safety logic is what defines the device. The control will not open the gas valve until the conditions permitting it are satisfied, it monitors for flame within a defined trial period, and it closes the valve immediately if flame is not established or is subsequently lost. A trial for ignition measured in seconds, and a lockout after a defined number of attempts, are deliberate limits on how much unburned gas can be admitted.

This is why an ignition control must never be bypassed to make an appliance run, and why substituting a control with different timing or supervision characteristics is not acceptable even where it physically fits.

Replacement controls must match the original in sequence, timing, trial period, and lockout behaviour.

Applications include commercial cooking equipment, boilers, unit heaters, and industrial gas appliances.
